A whimsical coming-of-age film about a young writer navigating girlhood and personal loss. Twelve-year-old Nina is a storyteller. Under the mentorship of a bohemian novelist next door, she starts to translate her life into prose—the nuisances of a little brother, the pains of growing up, the giddiness of first love. Gradually her writing leads to questions about her family and unresolved emotions around her mother’s death long ago.
