8th O Providence Children’s Film Festival começa na sexta-feira, 17 de fevereiro, no Metcalf Auditorium do RISD Museum. Este evento especial com ingresso será iniciado às 17h30, com deliciosos petiscos e bebidas fornecidos pela Delsie Catering & Events, Campus Fine Wines e Munroe Dairy. Após a recepção, os convidados assistirão a uma exibição de 30 minutos de Shorts Curtos e Doces, filmes curtas selecionados pelo PCFF para crianças de todas as idades.

Às 19h30, assista ao filme de stop-motion em argila, lindamente criado, Minha Vida de Abobrinha (Oscar e Indicado ao Globo de Ouro de Melhor Animação. Esta terna narrativa (sugerida para maiores de 13 anos) sobre crianças que vivem em um orfanato devido a circunstâncias de vida devastadoras aborda questões difíceis com sutileza e delicadeza, sem ser condescendente com o público mais jovem. O estilo de animação limpo e simples contrasta maravilhosamente com o difícil assunto, e os rostos expressivos dos personagens nos dão esperança pela inocência e resiliência das crianças. Minha Vida de Abobrinha é autêntico, empático e, por fim, edificante.

Nota: Uma segunda triagem de Minha Vida de Abobrinha, com patrocínio da Media Smart Libraries, acontecerá durante o Festival no sábado, 25 de fevereiro, às 16h15 no RISD Auditorium, 17 Canal Walk (em frente ao RISD Museum), Providence.
As Media Smart Libraries, em parceria com a PCFF, apoiam eventos de programação pública que enfatizam o uso de filmes e textos de mídia para promover a alfabetização expandida no século XXI. A exibição deste Festival de Minha vida como abobrinha, espera aumentar a conscientização de que as bibliotecas são agentes de mudança fundamentais no avanço da literacia midiática digital de crianças, adolescentes e famílias em suas comunidades.

The Sneak Peeks Party promises to be a fabulous event with food prepared by Fire Works Catering and wine from Campus Fine Wines. The evening will include film previews from the 2016 Festival, the premier of a special PCFF short film, and a silent and live auction in a hip downtown venue! The Sneak Peeks Party is the Providence Children’s Film Festival’s third annual fundraiser. All proceeds support the Providence Children’s Film Festival, a 501(c) (3) non-profit arts and cultural organization with a mission to present the best of independent and international children’s cinema to inspire, delight, educate, and connect a diverse community of children and families in Rhode Island and New England. For all us adults who love the Providence Children’s Film Festival as much as the children do, Eric Bilodeau, PCFF Director of Film Programming will present an evening of shorts for grown-ups only. These are “the best of the worst”…films that left him perplexed at best. “Just how exactly is that appropriate for young eyes?” It’s an eclectic mix that ranges from the very-good-but-too-mature films, to the head-slapping-leave-you-speechless types. Nothing dull here!
The evening will be hosted by Lindsay Shaw at the Providence Athenaeum on Saturday, abril 30, 2016. A wine bar will be provided by Campus Fine wines, delectable nosh treats from Fireworks Catering, and movie fare provided by PCFF. Be the first to buy tickets for this unique evening at the PCFF Sneak Peeks, novembro 6, 2015 at Aurora Providence. Last year it sold out in minutes!

For Grown Ups Only: A Special Evening of Shorts
For all us adults who love the Providence Children’s Film Festival as much as the children do, Eric Bilodeau, Director of Film Programming for the Providence Children’s Film Festival, will present an evening of shorts for grown-ups only. Eric Bilodeau will present what he calls “the best of the worst”. These are films that left us wondering how ANYONE might have thought were appropriate for young eyes to watch? It’s an eclectic mix that ranges from very good to films with mature themes to films that make one slap their forehead in disbelief. Nothing dull here!
The evening will be hosted by Lindsay Shaw at the Ateneu de Providence on Saturday, março 7, 2015. A wine bar will be provided by Campus Fine Wines along with movie snacks provided by PCFF and pizza donated by The Flatbread Company.

Now you can have all three festival posters, beautifully framed and ready to hang, as well as a certificate to secure the 2015 poster — including framing from Providence Picture Frame.

Lindsay Shaw is the Children’s Librarian at The Providence Athenaeum, an independent, member-supported library housing and conserving a wide-ranging collection of materials. The Athenaeum is also an important part of the larger Providence community, providing opportunities for members and others to come together for cultural programming and social interaction.
Eric Bilodeau was raised in the family movie business in Rhode Island (The Bristol Cinema, The Castle Cinema, The Meadowbrook Cinema and the Cable Car Cinema & Cafe). He developed a strong sense of film programming in both commercial and art houses. Running the Cable Car Cinema for 18 years gave him the experience to sharpen his skills in a multitude of film genres. After selling the Cable Car Cinema in 2007, Eric was hired as the Director of Programming for the Newport International Film Festival until he became the Director of Film Programming for the Providence Children’s Film Festival in 2010.
