“Comics in Motion” Advanced Animatics
PCFF is thrilled to share that exhibiting filmmakers Seo Kim and Steve Manale, creators of the delightful short film “FOOOLS” (from the “First Impressions” shorts reel) will be offering an advanced workshop for young aspiring filmmakers!
Seo Kim is an artist and cartoonist based in LA, best known for her storyboarding work on Adventure Time. Steve Manale is a multidisciplinary artist living in Toronto, specializing in short-form comics and cartoon portraits.
During this singular workshop, young people will create comics and learn storyboarding, and then how to transfer these to stop motion animation. Kim and Manale will introduce the basic principles such as how character poses/expressions and shot types (close, medium, wide) convey different emotions and moods, using their own work for examples. Young makers will learn visual storytelling and how to create a sequential narrative.
