DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Festival closes with an annual awards ceremony including Audience Award for Best Feature and Short\, Special Jury Award for Best Feature and Short\, and a Hasbro Children’s Hospital Jury Award. The Audience Award is calculated by ballots cast by the public after each Festival screening. The Special Jury Award is decided by votes cast by the PCFF Jury\, comprised of both adults and children. Kids learn about stop-motion animation and join in making a short film during this workshop from the Providence Children’s Film Festival with Team Hasbro volunteers.\nClick video sample here. \nWhen:\nTuesday\, August 22 from 3:00 – 6:00pm\n3-5pm – Drop-in craft session with character-making and storyboarding\n5-6pm – Short film screening and group filmmaking project in the park (arrive by 4:30\, reservations recommended) \nWhere:\nThe Imagination Center at Burnside Park\, 40 Kennedy Plaza\, Providence\, RI 02903 \nWho:\nAge recommendation: 8+ (younger children are welcome with an adult caregiver) \nHow:\nStop by between 3-5 to join the craft session. To reserve a spot in the filmmaking project\, register here (a limited number of drop-in seats will also be available). Note: Preregistered participants should plan to arrive by 4:30 or earlier to check in and make a character to use in the group film project. If not checked in by 5pm\, the reserved space may be released so that other children in attendance may participate in the film project.

DESCRIPTION:The Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy and Providence Children’s Film Festival present a FREE screening of Wes Anderson’s animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox\, based on the Roald Dahl book. The event kicks off with the Burnside Music Series + Beer Garden for grown-ups and play at the brand-new Brandon’s Beach Playground for kiddos. At dusk\, a giant movie screen lights up with the world premiere of PCFF’s Stop Motion Heroes\, a super-short film created in one afternoon by children at Kidoinfo’s Art in the Park program. \n\n\n\n4:30-7:30pm  Burnside Music Series + Beer Garden featuring The ‘Mericans (5:30-6:30)\, DJ Analog Underground\, and the Trinity Beer Garden (open until 9pm). SUMMARY:Special Effects Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Interact with professional makeup artist\, Kara Andrews from Art on the spot\, as she demonstrates a variety of techniques for creating wounds and other dramatic features used in films. Participants may craft their own tale of how the wound came to be as well as ask Kara questions throughout the process.
