Healing Arts at Hasbro Children’s Hospital
PCFF is honored to collaborate with Brown Health’s Healing Arts Program to provide hands-on film animation workshops for youth in the Pediatric Inpatient Medical Psychiatric Program (the Behavioral Health Unit).
The young patients admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit at Hasbro Children’s Hospital are managing a range of challenges both mental, emotional and medical. The Healing Arts program is a robust and critical part of their wellness program, providing opportunities for creative self-expression that give them a sense of agency and control in an otherwise highly controlled environment.
PCFF believes strongly that all children have the capacity to be creative visual storytellers. Our stop motion animation workshops are designed to enable young people to express themselves imaginatively, and communicate ideas and emotions simply and wordlessly. We hope our workshops foster pride and self confidence, and reinforce the role and effectiveness of the arts in finding happiness and healing.
This program was made possible through the generous support of the Lawson Family Charitable Foundation.
