Akan, the elderly son of Sapargul and Mukash, is a talented singer whose life is marked by hardship. After his father is killed in a fight, he is forbidden from playing the dombyra or performing at celebrations. His mother’s fear of death prevents him from pursuing his musical passion, and he is kept from school.
