¡Lotte, la irreprimible heroína canina, y sus parientes amantes de las invenciones están de regreso! El PCFF estrenó esta película en Providence en 2013, y ahora una nueva generación podrá disfrutar de sus travesuras.

No es frecuente que una secuela supere con creces a la original, ¡pero ”Lotte y el secreto de la piedra lunar” es esa película! La irreprimible heroína canina de “Lotte en el país de los inventos” (PCFF 2012) y sus familiares amantes de los inventos están de vuelta. Lotte nos lleva en un viaje maravilloso donde podrás conocer conejos lunares, gatos que bailan en salones, vacas locas por el fitness y pingüinos cantores con pantalones. Ligera pero no superficial, encantadora pero no tonta, genuinamente divertida tanto en imágenes como en diálogos, “Lotte” es un soplo de aire fresco animado.

En colaboración con el Museo RISD y la Gallery Night Providence, el PCFF 2014 trajo de vuelta a uno de los favoritos del público de 2013 para un comando - ¡y gratuito! - y gratuita. "Le Tableau" se desarrolla en el mundo de un cuadro idílico pero incompleto, abandonado hace tiempo por su pintor. En su ausencia, las figuras del cuadro se han apoderado de la narración para servir a sus propios fines. Tras la proyección, se le invitará a explorar, con la ayuda de educadores del museo, la colección de All-Dones, Sketchies y Halfies del RISD.

Jojo, a lively 10-year-old with a difficult home life marked by a volatile father and an absent mother, finds solace in an abandoned baby jackdaw (“kauw” in Dutch). Through the special friendship he builds with the bird, the bond between Jojo and his father will be strengthened or broken. That it sometimes takes one death to accept another could be one of several messages this sensitive, but at times challenging, film has to offer.

When 12-year-old fledgling detectives Santiago and Mariana witness the kidnapping of endangered Mexican wolf cubs, they spring into action to stop the traffickers and return the cubs to the local nature preserve. Staying one step ahead of the local authorities, our heroes must rely on teamwork, keen powers of observation and a little help from the animal spirits to get the job done!

Bored and all alone in the sky, the Moon Man hitches a ride to Earth on a passing comet. His arrival is mistaken as an attack from outer space by the Earth’s arrogant president. Meanwhile, the world’s children are unable to sleep without seeing the Moon Man in the night sky, leading our protagonist to enlist a sympathetic scientist to help with his return to his rightful place. The quirkiness and slower pace set “Moon Man” apart from the frenetic energy of so many other animated films. With nods to Rube Goldberg, Picasso and Escher, and delightful set pieces that use recordings by Louis Armstrong and Iron Butterfly, the picture unfolds with a sense of discovery that will draw young and old alike into the earthbound adventures of its unlikely lunar hero.

A playground fight leads to a journey of self-discovery in this delightful animation from Uruguay. Called to the principal’s office, 10-year-old Anina Yatay Salas (as named by her palindrome-loving father) is given a black envelope and told not to open it for the whole week she is suspended from school. Calling it the weirdest punishment in the history of weird punishments (she looked it up), our young heroine is tormented by what the envelope might contain and her active imagination conjures up all sorts of possibilities. Uruguay’s 2013 official submission to the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.

“Gabriel” is a story of friendship and teenage dilemmas, with a touch of both mystery and comedy. A family tragedy left 12-year-old Tomek living with his grandparents from infancy. His desire to meet his father inspires a road trip full of dangerous adventures. A mysterious friend (Gabriel) with impeccable timing keeps the journey alive. The closer Tomek gets to his father, the closer he discovers the secret of Gabriel.

Un encantador e intrigante film infantil de la India, ’Gattu“ trata sobre un huérfano criado por un tío estricto, constantemente frustrado por la incapacidad de su sobrino para concentrarse en el trabajo. Gattu está obsesionado en cambio con volar cometas, y en particular con derrotar a la misteriosa Kali, una cometa negra que domina los cielos. Para ello, Gattu está dispuesto a robar, mentir e incluso ir a la escuela. El único problema es que es analfabeto. No obstante, nuestro héroe acepta el desafío, demostrando que todo puede ser posible cuando la voluntad es lo suficientemente fuerte. Para que lo sepas de inmediato, los osos del título no tienen nada que ver con animaciones tiernas, empalagosas y antropomórficas. Los Alpes suizos son el telón de fondo de esta intrigante historia que atraviesa siglos para unir a dos niñas en una búsqueda compartida. Clara, una niña de 13 años con afinidad por la naturaleza, descubre la habilidad de ver a través del tiempo al tocar ciertos objetos en la granja. Ella siente el peligro de otra niña 200 años antes. Trabajando para levantar una antigua maldición, Clara intenta valientemente reparar tanto el pasado como el presente.

La inadaptada adolescente alemana Mika es enviada a vivir al campo con su severa abuela, quien resulta que fue una amazona olímpica. Uno de los caballos de su abuela, Viento, está tan descontento con el mundo que lo rodea como Mika con el suyo. Juntos, encuentran un sentido de felicidad que los ayuda a superar varias pruebas súper dramáticas. Será difícil no dejarse atrapar por esta historia que es parte de “El hombre que susurraba a los caballos” y parte de “Karate Kid”, con una pizca de “Fiebre de heno”.”
