Field Trip FAQs

Dates and Times: Field trip screenings take place during the Festival in February. (Please notify us if you have time constraints and we will try our best to accommodate your group.)

Location: We are thrilled to welcome audiences to the spacious RISD Museum-Metcalf Auditorium, 20 North Main Street, Providence. Buses may load and unload at the Museum’s courtyard entrance. Find directions, maps and accessibility information HERE.

Tickets: Youth tickets are $6 each (discounted from $8 general admission) with groups of 20 or more students. One chaperone per 10 kids will be admitted free of charge. Additional chaperones will be billed at a discounted rate of $8/ticket. Educators will receive a film study/activity guide to help them explore related film topics with students back in the classroom. Groups of 90+ students receive priority booking.

Seating Adjustments: We understand your student roster may change before your field trip. Please book the minimum number of students you expect to attend. Should your numbers increase, we will gladly adjust your seat reservations if space is available.

Transportation: Transportation must be arranged by school. If you need help covering transportation costs, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts’ Big Yellow School Bus grant provides up to $400 to Rhode Island schools and preschools to offset the cost of art-based field trips. Learn more HERE or contact us for other funding opportunities. RIPTA is also an affordable option for small groups.

When to Arrive: Plan to arrive at the theater at least 15 minutes before showtime for seating. Screenings cannot be delayed for late arrivals.

Food and beverages: Food and drink may be enjoyed in the lobby but are not permitted in the theater.

Payment: Payment payable to Providence Children’s Film Festival is due the day of the field trip for the pre-reserved number of students. For organizations using a purchase order system, please be prepared with day-of payment for your minimum number of students; you will receive an invoice for any additional attendees after your visit.

Refunds and Cancellations: Refunds cannot be given for late arrivals. Credits can not be given for last minute student no-shows. Cancellations must be received 14 days before the field trip date. Should a cancellation be caused by severe weather, accident, sickness, school closing, interruption of transportation or an “act of God” condition, neither party will be held liable and the program will be rescheduled for a mutually agreed-upon date, with all terms and conditions of this agreement still applying. In the rare event that PCFF or the venue cancels a screening, you will have the option to exchange for another screening within the same season, receive a form of credit for a screening in the following season, or receive a refund.
